The surroundings
Off the beaten track, the “Schwäbische Alb” offers everything in the way of natural recreation. Probably one of the last “wild paradises” in southern Germany, you will feel at home instantly. Unspoiled nature and romantic towns: the “Schwäbische Alb” offers more than just nature and old castles – it is all surrounded by bustling cities. The region has the city with the highest quality of life in Germany as well as the oldest town, today a stronghold of design. Medieval timber-framed houses, castles right in the city centre, idyllic market places, small alleyways – these are towns that are built for living. It’s no wonder that many famous Germans are connected to the region; Einstein, Steiff, List, Hölderlin, Bosch, Hesse, Märklin, Kepler, Bloch, Uhland, Möricke just to name a few. Maybe it's the mix of ancient landscapes and vibrant cities that is the source of their deep thoughts – even up until the present day.
